It's out there and has over 250 members already. All of the members are from Big Stone Gap and Appalachia.

I don't think much will come of it but I joined. Had the people of BSG and Appalachia joined together earlier this may have been avoided. I do hope that people speak their mind at that public hearing, whatever their opinion is. For all I know, more people may want 2-1 but I doubt it.

I thought the whole point of all this is that those two groups of people didn't want to be joined together. That's why many of their esteemed representatives voted this way.

But I'm with you...2-on-1 is ridiculous and there's no reason to not have a school in BSG.

The people from Appalachia don't even want 2-1. Had they built a new school with a new name and a new mascot the complaints from both sides would be minimal.

I tought that was the original plan though. They were going to build a new school at the current PV site. It would have been given a different name and mascot. The problem was Appalachia understandably but unrealistically wanted to keep its school.

They weren't fond of the site, understandably. I was in favor of finding a new site and still am. However, I think given the choice of going to that site now (new school name, mascot, etc) or going to Wise most would choose the old PV site.

Is it true that BSG representive from the school board vowed to protect PV high school, but actually voted for the 2 on 1? I am not sure if we can mention names, but I think he is Ted T.

I have checked the group out on facebook and only have one complaint. I understand with the current plan that people from appy and bsg will have to drive approx. 15-20 min. to arrive at school with some having to drive a little bit longer. But with what this facebook is proposing is for the 2-1 school to be built in bsg or appy. How is this remotely in their right mind possibly? Wise/Norton is a central location. Most towns take around 20 min to get to the lowes area. St Paul might take a little bit longer but imagine driving to BSG or Appy from St Paul. It would take nearly 30 minutes at a minimum and soem places in Pound it could take nearly an hour.

I understand the 2-1 site idea is beyond crazy but IF it is going to be done it might as well be as central as possible rather than in Keokee or South Fork.

Waste of time because your fighting a battle you can't win. The people of Appy have been fighting for years without the support of BSG. It wasn't until PV was losing their school the people of BSG decided to fight, and now they want the people of Appy to join their fight.
